Fish-Bowl-recipe

It’s easy to make a great tasting party drink, but how about something that looks absolutely fantastic as well.  Here’s something a little different.  A drink that looks like a dirty fish bowl, complete with your choice of jelly marine life.  This is pretty sweet and easy to drink but it’s the visual appeal that will get people talking.  The great thing about this is that it is really simple to get the look and you can scale it up from a single glass to a large punch bowl.

The recipe here is based on making enough for a half gallon fish bowl.  The drink has a bit of a kick but isn’t too strong so your party guests can have a couple of glasses.  The light fizz from the 7- Up and the tartness of the orange juice help to offset the sweetness of the nerds and blue curacao.  Like a lot of sweeter drinks, this is more refreshing if kept cold so try and make it close to serving time, use cold ingredients and serve it with ice cubes.  Add the ice to the drinking glasses rather than the punch as you don’t want the ice to melt in the punch and make it watery.

Ingredients:

1/2 cup Nerds candy

1/2 gallon fish bowl

1 cup of home made sweet and sour mix (see below)

1/3 cup blue Curacao

½ cup. citrus vodka

1/3 cup vodka

2 cups orange juice

2 cups 7-Up

Slices of lime or lemon to float on the punch

Half a dozen gummy snakes

Directions:

Start by spreading the nerds candy across the bottom of your punch bowl.  This will be the gravel in your fish bowl.  Next add all of your ingredients (making sure they are cold) before floating a a dozen slices of lemon or lime on the top of the punch.  Have the gummy snakes floating in punch bowl as well.

To make the sweet and sour mix, use ¼ cup of warm water to dissolve a ¼ cup of sugar.  When the sugar is completely dissolved, add a ¼ cup fresh lemon juice and a ¼ cup of fresh lime juice.  Refrigerate until cold.
