Smoothies are a great drink.  Not only do they taste delicious but they are also thick and filling.  The only down side to these healthy drinks is that many of them are packed with sugar.  So what are your options if you’re looking for a low calorie fruit smoothie recipe?  Firstly, you want to avoid the higher sugar fruits and full fat milks.  But you still want the smoothie to be creamy, filling, healthy and tasty.  So this smoothie recipe is based on using avocado to provide the creaminess, mango for flavour and honey for sweetness.

This is a great recipe for lots of reasons.  A real benefit of the avocado is that it makes the smoothie really filling while not adding too many calories.  On top of that, avocado is full of healthy oils.  The smoothie is also full of vitamins, with the mango providing more than your daily requirements of vitamins A and C.

This recipe is best made in a blender

1 roughly chopped whole mango

½ medium avocado peeled and sliced

1-2 teaspoons of honey

Put the ingredients in the blender and blend until smooth.  Add a handful of ice before blending if you want your smoothie nicely chilled.

So there you go, healthy, filling, tasty and low calorie.  The ultimate smoothie.
