Healthy Chocolate Smoothie

It can be one of those things that’s heavily addictive and not that great for you if you overdo it, but this amazing chocolate smoothie recipe should help you get your fix while at the same time providing you with some fantastic health benefits! Instead of using highly processed chocolate, this recipe urges you to use cacao: the parts of the cacao bean that are referred to as “nature’s chocolate chips”. Cacao nibs are just as rich and rewarding as chocolate with a whole lot more nutrition. They’re packed with antioxidants and they’ve been long used in Southern American culture for a variety of cuisines. They contain fiber, magnesium and iron along with a number of other vital minerals. Once you’ve had just one sip of this delectable superfood-infused shake, you’ll be craving it all the time! This is the perfect way to get a busy morning started or just a nice treat to pick you up on the weekends.

 

Ingredients

1 fresh frozen banana

1 cup almond or coconut milk

½ cup fresh strawberries, blueberries and raspberries

1 tablespoon cacao powder

1 tablespoon chia seeds

½ tablespoon cacao nibs

½ tablespoon coconut oil

¼ teaspoon cinnamon

1 pinch of sea salt

Honey, to taste

 

Directions – Healthy Chocolate Smoothie

Blend banana, coconut milk, coconut oil, fresh berries and chia seeds until smooth. Add cacao powder, cacao nibs, cinnamon, sea salt and honey before blending once more until you’ve achieved your desired consistency.
